I know this looks more like Christian Slater cast in a biopic of Vincent van Gogh, but it's really one of our devoted disciple's granddaddies. I'll let Disciple Vi tell the accompanying story. Here goes:

This is my Grandfather, Jennings Sturgeon, who was an American soldier deployed in the Philippines during WWII. Why does this relate to Jesus? Well, it turns out that Grandpa was also an actor and painter (and a heavy drinker). He played Jesus in a Filipino movie one time, and it's one of the things that my aunts and uncles bring up to temper the many unsavory things about him. I have no pictures of him as Jesus, but I do have a picture of him looking like Jesus despite the unholy drink in his hand. I also have a painting that his assistant painted of him that shows how much more Jesus-y he looks, but I'm too lazy to take a picture of it and send it to you.

Sounds like the Sturgeon clan will be thrilled to see Jennings featured here on Jesus of the Week. Here's to family!
